Schwelle 2012
Schwelle pays homage to the definition of this term by Walter Benjamin.
Schwelle is not about one side or the other, nor about the one and its reflection or duality. This series is about the "in between", about the threshold.
What we can see in these photographs, is that the line between the real and its mirrored image fades and expands up and down, thus materializing and becoming an entity where the rest of the image is rooted to.
As Benjamin states: "A Schwelle <threshold> is a zone. Transformation, passage, wave action are in the word schwelle, swell, and etymology ought not to overlook these senses"
